Izvestia: Herzen University Journal of Humanities & Sciences continues the tradition of Izvestia: Herzen State Pedagogical Institute Journal of Humanities & Sciences founded in 1928. Publishing resumed under Decree No. 1844 of 20 April 2001, and the first issue with an introduction from Gennady Bordovsky, the then Rector,  appeared in 2002.

The Journal aims to raise the quality of training to bring it in line with the national strategic goals of state assessment of research and teaching staff. It reports on the results of fundamental and applied research as well as experiments of leading scientists, experts, and young scholars. Izvestia: Herzen University Journal of Humanities & Sciences is a peer-reviewed journal which welcomes submissions of original papers in:

1. Linguistics
2. Pedagogy
3. Psychology

The journal targets researchers, experts, students and all those with an interest in social sciences and humanities, including interdisciplinary, theoretical and applied research and developments in pedagogy, psychology, and linguistics.

Izvestia offers open access to full-text papers on the website of the Fundamental Library of Empress Maria Feodorovna. Electronic copies are also available on eLibrary and CyberLeninka, two major Russian online research libraries. Please provide references to the Journal or its contributors when citing any of its published material.
